At Unity Federation we have thought carefully and worked with our pupils, staff and governors to create a shared vision that reflects each individual school but also all three working together in our federation. We came together in January 2018 to explore and write our vision. With the help of our local incumbents we chose the following bible passage to root our vision in biblical teachings:
The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:44-46
From this we worked together, prayed together and reflected together on why we are a federation, why we are a distinctly Christian and what we aim to achieve. We also considered how we were to nurture our community academy, Little Snoring, in our vision.
The vision we created is:
We are 3 small schools where big things happen;
We celebrate the hidden treasure that we can nurture with joy and hope in every child.
We foster independence, develop courage and resilience and shape our children to be life-long learners so that they may:
Have faith, FLOURISH and fly high.
In forming our vision we considered, The Church of England’s Vision for Education – Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good. We also considered our multi-academy trust’s vision to ensure we worked within these key areas.
Our Values:
- To embrace change and ensure we are looking forward in all we plan and do.
- To respect, praise and acknowledge every federation’s members’ achievements and celebrate them.
- To provide a positive environment and curriculum that fosters curiosity, creativity and knowledge.
- To learn in happy, safe and fun environments.
- To promote positive and healthy relationships based on mutual respect.
- To value and encourage teamwork and friendship across our federation of church and community schools.
- To create an atmosphere of trust and respect so children and adults feel safe and secure in all they do.
- To broaden our horizons and views on the wider world and to grow in tolerance for all creed, colours, faiths and beliefs and to learn and explore other religions and their places of worship within Norfolk.
- To have a common empathy across our federation but retain each individual school’s distinctiveness.
- To be involved in volunteering in community events including working with elderly, disabled and vulnerable groups.
- To learn and explore other religions and their places of worship within Norfolk.
